Abstract
Summary form only given. This paper discusses the magnetospheric response to the solar wind impulse, revealed by a global numerical simulation. In particular, we are considering the sudden impulse (SI) of the geomagnetic field. Our numerical simulation successfully reproduces observed features of the ground magnetic variations in the SI events. By using the simulated magnetosphere, we manifested detailed physical processes in the magnetosphere-ionosphere system.
