Abstract :
The system resources that limit packet data capacity in a cdma2000 system are available base station transmit power and Walsh code space. An improvement of the forward link performance can be exploited by the packet data scheduler to serve more users as well as to provide higher average data throughput per user. Dual antenna diversity at mobile handsets have recently been explored as a way to improve link performance. This study reports a field trial that measures packet data throughput improvement provided by handset dual antenna diversity for Release 0 and Release A of the cdma2000 standard.
