Abstract :
We propose a wireless resource management mechanism with AP-RMS (access point resource management server) that can guarantee minimum available WLAN bandwidth for real-time applications. Since an AP-RMS cooperates with SIP (session initiation protocol) proxy and 802.1x authentication server, it can dynamically manage codec and wireless channel utilization for high priority real-time applications. In the case of congestion at one AP, the AP-RMS forces real-time applications to change into a smaller codec. If the AP-RMS detects that congestion is eliminated, it permits those applications to use a large codec. We evaluate our proposed mechanism to show its effectiveness.
