Abstract :
An optimal controller of the spindle motor in a CD-ROM drive is designed using fuzzy logic with genetic algorithms. First, a controller is designed according to fuzzy rules such that the systems are fundamentally robust. To obtain the globally optimal values, parameters of the fuzzy controller are searched by means of genetic algorithms. Computer simulations demonstrate that the fuzzy controller with genetic algorithms possesses good robustness, no matter how the spindle motor is subjected to disturbances or has model uncertainty.
