Abstract :
In the Clinic of Neurosurgery of Novosibirsk RITO 126 patients with basal meningioma of various localization were operated on during last 6 years. In 87 patients the tumor removal was performed with infra-red (Nd-YAG) laser with a wavelength of 1,06 microns. The laser functioned in an impulse-periodic mode with pulse duration of 200 mk sec, laser radiation frequency of 100 Hz, and power of 10-55 W. The use of the developed original laser technologies at a stage of basal meningioma rnicrosurgical removal in a mode of coagulation and ablation, always allowed us to remove the tumor totally, to avoid additional lesion of the adjacent brain and massive blood loss.
