Abstract :
The radiation properties of axially slotted elliptical antenna coated by a lossy dielectric material are investigated. The analysis is carried out by expressing the fields outside the antenna structure (free space) and inside the lossy dielectric coating in terms of elliptic waves via Mathieu functions, then boundary conditions are employed to solve for the unknown expansion coefficients. Numerical results are presented in graphical form for the transverse magnetic (TM) case to illustrate the radiation pattern, the aperture conductance, and the gain against the coating thickness
