Abstract :
Complexity and time-to-market are two key issues in integrated circuit development. How to design a required, complicated integrated circuit within an allowed time is a challenge to chip designers all over the world. The increasing cost of NRE fee and manpower also force fabless companies to find some universal solution. A programmable and reconfigurable chip platform is probably a good idea. This paper focused on this topic and give some key discussions on application-oriented platform-based SOC design technology. One successfully developed SOC-COMIP™ was presented also in this paper.
