Abstract
Nowadays, telecommunication networks need to integrate a wide variety of services demanding different qualities and capacities to the network. The use of network architectures based on hybrid optic fibre-coaxial cable (HFC) is an adequate practice to develop cable integrated telematic services. Steiner problem is a well-suited procedure to deal with the deployment of such HFC networks in small urban and rural areas. A set of heuristics is presented to solve the problem in suitable computation times when dealing with real times civil works problems.
