Abstract
This paper presents a method of reconstructing the shapes of self-shadowed regions, as a compensation to shape from shading. The method is based on the proposed principle that the distorted shape of self-shadowed region should be enclosed within its boundary, and should not destroy the global 3D result. It introduces the light source projected system, to simplify the problem and make it possible to recover the depth gaps across the self-shadowed sections in rows. The parabolic interpolation could ensure the smooth connection of the reconstructed shadowed shapes with other regions. It has shown that, this proposed method could improve the 3D results of shape from shading efficiently.
