Abstract
A new three-phase, single-switch buck converter is proposed in the paper. The main feature of the new converter is that it can perform input power factor correction over a wider input voltage range than the conventional three-phase, single-switch buck converter. In the paper, the operation of the new converter is reviewed, and general considerations that should be taken into account when trying to design it are discussed. A detailed and systematic procedure for the design of the proposed converter is presented and demonstrated with an example. The feasibility of the converter is confirmed with results obtained from computer simulation and from an experimental prototype.
