Abstract :
Arc faults can arise in automotive 42 V systems as a consequence of loose connections, inadvertent damage during maintenance or insulation aging, leading to fire and/or loss of vehicle control. This paper describes the control of solid-state switches to manage arc faults and permit short-term operation at a power level below the insulation ignition threshold, thereby enhancing automotive safety
