Abstract :
This paper proposes a new approach to the single-phase grounded fault location in a non-effectively grounded system. After the fault, the high-voltage impulse signal is injected at the beginning of the faulty line and the reflected traveling wave is obtained. In the context of known line structure, the fault can be located by the analysis of the reflected traveling wave, i.e., C-traveling wave fault location. This method can not only calculate the electrical distance of the fault, but also determine the branch line that the fault lies in. Fault location with this method is irrelevant to the limits of the voltage phase in time of the fault, and can effectively overcome the impact of the grounded resistance. Experiments with physical model verify the correctness and practicability of the method.
