Abstract
A decision feedback equalizer (DFE) using channel matched filter is developed for wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) systems, based on correlation technique for channel estimation. In the spread spectrum based modulation, a correlation based approach is used to identify the arrival times of different paths. In this work, first, channel parameters are determined using the correlation based channel estimation technique. Then, these estimated channel parameters are used to compute the coefficients of both feed-forward and feedback filters of decision feedback equalizer which is based on the use of channel matched filter (CMF) to mitigate the channel effects. Performance of this method is studied through computer simulation experiments for multipath fading channels. Furthermore, the performance is compared with linear transversal equalizer (LTE) and Rake receiver
