Abstract :
Dual-mode mobile terminals supporting interworking CDMA and WiBro can provide users a wider service area in 4G mobile networks. This paper suggests software architecture for dual-mode mobile terminals based on embedded Linux that consist of the following modules: connection control and management, IP mobility, and common connection layer. The interfaces and control procedures were designed to support transparency between protocol stacks, and to minimize delay when handover occurs. The control mechanism also considers handover event in case of both manual and automatic switching
