Design of firewall in router using network processor

Firewall is a fundamental network security technology that protects inner network from unsafe or malicious network traffic outside. The design suggested in the paper is to put this firewall function into a router to support not only packet routing but also network security. The architecture of those integrated function is based on Intel network processor IXP2400 platform to maximize the performance
