Abstract
The CDF experiment studies proton-anti-proton collisions using the Tevatron collider. Interesting events are identified using a three level trigger system, with each level utilizing more detailed information to select and pass on events. Since the start of Run II, the trigger and data acquisition systems have worked well. Over the next few years, the Tevatron will begin to operate at luminosities (with a number of interactions per beam crossing) that will significantly exceed the design limit for many parts of the trigger and DAQ. This poster reviews the present level-1 and level-2 trigger system at CDF, and will motivate upgrades of the trigger system to cope with future high luminosity running at the Tevatron.
