Abstract :
PET scanner simulation is an excellent tool for understanding and making crucial decisions concerning the modeled scanner, such as optimal data organization or rebinning. The simulation is trusted for use only after it has been validated with experimental results. We developed a Geant4 simulation of the CPS HiRez PET scanner. The simulation is benchmarked on experimental results, which are presented in this paper. A point source in the center of the field of view (FOV), a line source in the center of the FOV, and a line source in a scattering phantom have been simulated. Sensitivity, spatial resolution, scatter fraction, and energy spectra have also been studied.
