Abstract
The goal of this study is to characterize the dependence of media recording parameters (DC and transition noise, track width and thermal stability) on the medium orientation ratio (OR), We used a set of longitudinal anti-ferromagnetically coupled (AFC) media with identical magnetic layers deposited on different substrates. These disks have similar Mrt (0.35-0.38 memu/cm2) and Hc (3600-3800 Oe) but the OR varies from 1.78 to 2.2. The experiments were performed using a longitudinal recording head with WW = 220 nm, RW = 140 nm.
