Abstract
In order to achieve a higher recording density of hard disk drives, the spacing between the head and the magnetic disk should be reduced further. With this reduction, lubricant surface morphology becomes a significant concern. In this paper, the coarse-grained molecular dynamics (MD) simulation was applied to lubricant films with functional endgroups for quantitative analysis of the influence of the endgroups on the morphology of the films.
