Abstract :
The complete digital processing (physical medium dependant, PMD) of the Discrete Multitone modulation scheme and transmission convergence layer (TC) has been integrated into a single device, processed in 0.35µ standard CMOS process. Power and area are kept well within limits making this device a cost effective solution for ADSL line and network terminating systems. New design methods were used to meet the severe time-to-market constraint of this high complexity device.
