Abstract :
An avalanche photodiode (APD) chip and a GHz range differential receiver channel IC were combined to a hybrid receiver channel for a pulsed time-of-flight (TOF) laser radar. The IC was realized as a semi-custom bipolar array. It includes current mode gain control, amplifiers and a timing discriminator. The timing accuracy of the receiver is ±6 ps in a range of 40 dB.
