Abstract :
This paper presents a single-chip smart camera. The SoC IC comprises a 120 dB, 15 Mpixel/s digital optical sensor with pixel selection and signal conditioning circuits, a 32-bit RISC processor with instruction cache and 60 MIPS performance, a 32-node vision/neural coprocessor with 300 MOPS performance, 10-bit analog-to-digital converter, serial SPI and serial video interfaces. A 512-KB FLASH program memory and 1-MB data RAM memories are implemented externally to the chip. The functional blocks are interconnected via a single main data bus for best flexibility. The chip has been fabricated in a 0.35 µm 2-poly CMOS process with an area of 5.93 × 5.98 mm2and a typical power dissipation of 1 W at 3.3 V and 60 MHz.
