Abstract :
Slow light propagation results from the large dispersion of the refraction index. We report on such effect obtained by the coherent population oscillations effect in an Erbium doped crystal. We achieve a group velocity of 2.7 m/s. The inhomogeneous broadening of the transition is used as an additional parameter to control both the group velocity and the transmission.
