Abstract :
Cu-TiB2 was fabricated by combination of mechanical treatment, SHS (self propagating high temperature synthesis) and SPS (spark plasma sintering). The feasibility of Cu-TiB2 composites for welding electrodes and sliding contact material is investigated through the experiments on the mechanical properties, wear resistance and electric conductivity. Various tests are performed for the Cu-TiB2 nanocomposites with the content of TiB2 from 2.5 to 10 wt% pure copper specimens are also tested for comparison.
