Abstract :
Zipfs law holds the promise of more effective design and use of Web cache resources. This paper discusses how to make use of Zipfs law to model the Web objects´ popularity. For the high frequency objects, Zipf 1 st law is employed to set up the model; for the low frequency objects, Zipf 2 nd law is borrowed to simulate. Our model overcomes the limitation of only considering one-time referencing for the low frequency Web objects when modeled. A Web simulator POPSIM is presented based on the Web objects´ popularity model and its validation is checked by experiment results.
