Abstract :
Switch-mode converters are used to convert unregulated DC input into a controlled DC output at a desired voltage level. Load changes complicate this process by introducing voltage fluctuations and steady-state errors. Disturbance accommodation control (DAC) theory is used to reduce the influence of external disturbances (load changes) on the switch-mode power converter voltage output level. SIMULINK/MATLAB simulation is used to show the performance improvement using DAC as a supplement to the primary PID controller. Results show a 28% improvement in percent overshoot and a mixed result in settling time depending on the type of load change. The system investigated can be implemented with DSP rather than discrete analog components.
