Abstract
As a crucial convolution step, SAIC (single antenna interference cancellation) has been introduced into GSM system. Great capacity gain could be achieved with SAIC applied, and a feasible study is being conducted in 3GPP. Since most of GSM networks are operated in asynchronous mode, the development and evaluation of SAIC algorithm in asynchronous network is necessary. The asynchronous model brings about some obstacles to the channel estimation and detection. Two algorithms are developed to overcome these difficulties, and their link level performances are simulated in the configuration 2/3 defined by 3GPP. A simple interface from link level and system level is proposed, and corresponding methodology of capacity evaluation is given. Then capacity gain of configuration 3 brought by SAIC receiver is evaluated in system level.
