Abstract :
It is developed a theoretical cross-layer saturation goodput model for the IEEE 802.11a physical (PHY) layer and distributed coordination function (DCF) basic access scheme medium access control (MAC) protocol. The proposed analytical expressions allow assess the system performance as function of channel load, contention window (CW) resolution algorithm, distinct modulation schemes, forward error corrector (FEC) coding schemes, receiver structures and channel models.
