Abstract :
Within a mobile ad hoc network (MANET), due to mobility and lossy wireless links, multiple link breakages can occur within a localized area. As a result, the network is broken into partitions and leads to disrupted communications. In this paper, the generation of network partitions under various mobility models, namely random waypoint (RW), reference point group mobility (RPGM), Manhattan grid (MG) and Gauss Markov (GM), using ns-2.27 is investigated. Through simulation, the impact of partitions for different mobility models on the performance of TCP is analyzed. Modifications to the existing TCP protocol are proposed to cope with its inadequacies in handling partition problems in MANETs
