Abstract :
We present a study of the dynamics of dispersion-managed solitons under third-order dispersion effects using a novel variational model. Both the third-order dispersion induced pulse displacement and the asymmetric distortion are included in the analysis. The results obtained with the proposed method are compared with those obtained from the direct numerical integration of a generalized nonlinear Schrodinger equation including a third-order dispersion term.
