On the issue of object states modelling in the context of relational databases

The paper is concerned with the issue of historical information organization in operational relational databases. It proposes some conceptual framework allowing to generalize different approaches commonly used in practice. This framework is based on concepts of object class, property, relationship and version. The paper defines the concept of version and suggests storing the enterprise object states history in the form of interrelated collection of versions. Then it outlines some ways of implementing suggested ideas in the context of relational model.
