Abstract :
Various types of field buses are used in factories in order to achieve the communication between the parts of process. But the protocol of the field bus does not have the standardized unique protocol. Thus, it is hard to exchange information each other with real time base when the different type protocols are adopted in the same network. In this paper, we used a PC as host computer to implement real time gateway for CAN and Profibus. The characteristics of the designed gateway including the real time communication and interoperability between CAN nodes and Profibus nodes are verified experimentally.
