Abstract :
We present and examine a tree-shaped self-organizing neural network called the evolving tree. It has been designed to efficiently analyze large databases. We show how the system´s architecture makes it efficient for these kinds of tasks. We then analyze the system´s behaviour under different circumstances. We find that, despite being simple, the evolving tree is a suitable tool for unsupervised data analysis.
