Abstract :
It has been shown that midbrain dopamine neurons and the dopamine neuronal activity in the striatum mimic reward prediction error signal of the temporal difference learning (TDL) paradigm. James Houk proposed a theoretical model to explain the cellular basis of this dopamine activity. Our goal is to verify this model with simulations in GENESIS and CHEMESIS. This paper reports preliminary results from the simulations of this intracellular signaling scheme. The main result reported here is the influence of presynaptic reuptake on dopamine activity at the cortico-striatal synapse. It appears that the reuptake affects the rate of formation of D1_DA receptor complex that in turn would have a bearing on the timing mechanisms operating in TDL.
