Abstract
An electrochemical micro-cell for building micro-biosensors based on detection of photosynthesis inhibition was achieved. A system of three microelectrodes was realised on a Si chip, using the photolithographic techniques of planar technologies for semiconductor devices. The Synechocystis PCC 6803, MscL mutant, was selected as biological element having a high sensitivity for xenobiotics. A polypirole layer deposited on the working electrode by electrochemical polymerization assured the interface with the biological element. Constructive solutions where adopted to fulfil the multiple phenomena interference requirements. The work was carried on in the frame of BIOXEN project, supported by MATNANTECH National R&D Programme.
