            Abstract : 
A comparative study of the different schemes of the transimpedance amplifier is presented in this paper. A figure of merit is proposed to quantify the performance of each topology. The common base configuration is suitable for high voltage technologies. The common emitter configuration with buffered feedback is optimum for modern low voltage technologies
