Abstract :
This paper proposes a nonlinear approach and a linear approach to predict a ring oscillator´s phase noise and timing jitter due to device noise. Both approaches show that a ring oscillator´s phase noise power spectral density is proportional to (ω0/Δω)2. In addition, estimation of the timing jitter caused by supply or substrate noise is also provided in the paper.
