  • Abstract
It is necessary that the serving-call session control function (S-CSCF) be assigned by the operator of IP multimedia networks for user-based call session control. If the assignment of the S-CSCF to the user is not adaptive, the user may not be provided with IP multimedia services and network resources are wasted because of the overload of the specific S-CSCF. But 3GPP standardization organization has taken over the issue of S-CSCF selection by I-CSCF to the operator´s implementation role and has not explicitly described it. Therefore to resolve this problem, in this paper, we design the data structure for S-CSCF selection and a three-step S-CSCF selection algorithm which assigns the adaptive S-CSCF by the I-CSCF and effectively uses the network resources on IP multimedia subsystems
