Abstract
Determining the molten metal flow patterns and velocity values in aluminum reduction cells is essential for analyzing various cell performance aspects. This paper presents the preliminary design of two sensing devices to measure the molten metal velocity patterns. Device prototypes have been physically implemented. Details regarding the device designs and experimental testing are presented in the paper
