Abstract :
The paper presents an approach based signal processing on discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for the evaluation of harmonic contents of electromagnetic transients in 500 kV single circuit transmission system. The analysis of electromagnetic transients is carried out by employing the wire electric field integral equation in frequency domain. After reaching the steady state the voltage and current waveforms, this paper presents a discrete-Fourier transform (DFT) filter bank for analyzing power system harmonic, and a DWT-based signal processing for harmonic analysis of nonstationary power system waveforms. Simulation results show that this scheme is capable of providing correct responses under various system configurations and fault conditions and practical harmonics evaluation of 500 kV extra high voltage (EHV) transmission lines in power system.
