  • Abstract
Over high speed network a lot of kinds of multimedia data are used by world wide users, such as TV, radio, movie, music, virtual museum and so on. When one content is stored, contents providers generally prepare narrow band, wide band and broad band data from low quality to high quality because of users´ network environments. In this case, we had proposed scalability data management methods. Scalability is used to realize each quality which users require, as it has scalable data architecture and one stream consists of hierarchical structure. But this scalability data generally has the problem of large amount of decoding process comparing with non-scalable data. Then we propose scalable data management system with updatable scalability in tins paper. Its scalability concept is that non-scalable decoder can realize to select video quality because of having updatable processor. Especially, we pay attention to image size and use spatial updatable scalability. This scalability algorithm is explained, and we propose this management method is shown. Finally, our proposed method is evaluated from the view point of decoding process and transmitting time in constant quality of video. It is indicated that a content delivery method with updatable scalability is more efficient than the delivery scheme with bitstream scalability.
