Abstract
Automatic control appeared in France after second World War. However, the history of the regulation techniques shows that it has existed since the beginning of the XIXe century a school of the regulation in France. Thus school was remarkable but it left behind few remembers This article has for aim to point out the history of this school and of its most brilliant representatives. Second world war represents a rupture in all the domains of French scientific research. The cooperation at the end of the 1940´s between the members of the French school of regulation and the young engineers of the armament and telecommunications led to the development of French automatic control during the 1950´s.
