Abstract :
High-power (>100W CW and 380W QCW) operation of diode edge-pumped, microchip Yb:YAG laser was demonstrated. The 300μm-thick microchip has a new composite structure consisting of 5mm-diameter, cylindrical single-crystal Yb:YAG core and surrounding transparent, undoped ceramic YAG pump waveguide.
