  • Abstract
    Low profile single-phase BLDCM are widely used in small size cooling fans that are mainly adapted to CPU heat dissipation. A novel single-phase BLDCM topology that is quite differently from the conventional topology is proposed in this paper. Some motor structures based on the novel topology are introduced respectively. The structures of the two topologies are compared with each other. The operational principle of the novel topology is presents and the prototype of the new structure single-phase BLDCM is made. The performance of the prototype is tested what shows that the novel topology is suitable for low profile fan motor design.
