Abstract :
A new hybrid excitation brushless motor is put forward on the basis of double salient permanent magnet (DSPM) motor. It achieves weakening or strengthening magnet flux control to regulate speed by introduction of axial magnetic field. In this paper, the configuration and relevant analysis of the hybrid excitation motor are presented. Finite element analysis is carried out to investigate the magnetic field distribution at different rotor positions and load currents. The theoretic analysis results shows that the motor is of large torque in low speed and approximately constant power in high speed, which is fit for applications of wide range speed adjustment such as electric vehicle.
