Abstract
In this paper, a practical vector controlled induction motor (IM) directing mainly at the household appliances has been developed. The stator flux orientation scheme with speed sensorless technique has been implemented. The speed regulator is well designed to ensure the system working with an optimal torque during the transient state. Improved stator flux estimation has been proposed to compensate the errors brought by the low pass filter (LPF). To meet with the cost-sensitive case, special considerations have been given to reduce the system cost without sacrificing the system performance. A prototypal has been developed. The control strategy has been validated by simulation study, and finally evaluated by experiments on a 370 W induction machine
