Abstract :
The goal of this paper is to improve railway performances by providing more and accurate context information. A human factors engineering approach was conducted to identify the appropriate context information. Subsequently, this was tested in a simulation study. The results indicated that train drivers change their driving decisions upon different information conditions. Moreover, they expect that the context information will improve their decision-making and the performance indicators safety, punctuality, energy-costs, personnel and passenger satisfaction.
