Abstract :
In the companion paper, a methodology for computing transmission-line short circuits caused by direct and nearby ground lightning incidence was described. This paper presents the application of methodological and computational procedures of this methodology, regarding the calculation of lightning performance of transmission lines. From the computed results, focusing on 138- and 230-kV typical three-phase transmission lines, the effectiveness of the described process is clear, even when the line is modeled three-dimensionally or when nonlinear elements are present, for example, when arresters are installed in the line.
