  • Abstract
    A common backplane environment for commercial/academic placement and routing engines (ABLE) is presented. ABLE allows users to access various placement and routing engines through a common user interface. Possible schemes of integrating foreign tools into ABLE are discussed. A triple layers methodology for placement and routing of mixed macro blocks and standard cells at the same level of physical hierarchy, using several layout tools available under ABLE, is presented.
