            Abstract : 
Using bi-directional second-order Raman amplification, transmission through 80 km of fiber was achieved with only a 0.85 dB peak-to-peak signal power excursion. This scheme is the best tradeoff between optical signal-to-noise ratio and nonlinear penalty.
